The Purpose of this study are to examine the determinants affecting the middle-age and old worker¡¯s unemployment process, and whether these determinants may be different by the gender. For this study, the Annual Korean Labor Panel data(from 1st to 7th) are used, and the event history analysis are used. Main findings are as follows. First, females are more likely to lose their jobs than males, after the economic crisis. Second, the determinants affecting the middle-age and old worker¡¯s employment are different by gender. For example, the existence of partner has no effect on the male unemployment process, but positive effect on female unemployment process. Third, the male¡¯s unemployment rates go down as the ages go up, while the relationships between the female¡¯s unemployment rates and ages are not positive. These findings show that the female workers, rather than male workers, had more economic difficulty after the economic crisis.
